Working with Your Essex Outdoor Design Landscape Team

The Essex Outdoor Design approach to landscape architecture and construction is focused on client satisfaction at every step. From the initial meeting and design concepts to the site survey and construction process, we listen to our clients, work within budget and zoning guidelines and strive to create an outdoor space that fits your family.

Initial Meeting

Your landscape project starts with a custom design process. You will meet directly with Steve Essex to discuss your vision, property, budget and wish list. Steve will share ideas from his portfolio, and this is a great time for you to share any Houzz ideabooks, magazine clippings, photos and sketches you have, as well as your favorite plant colors and characteristics.

Site Survey

To get an accurate survey of your existing property, Essex Outdoor Design takes photos and detailed measurements, including grades to plan for drainage. You will be asked to provide an accurate survey of your property, such as the site plan from when the house was built. A concept plan is discussed based upon your vision for how the outdoor area will be used. This is a good time to provide any neighborhood or association regulations if applicable so they can be considered in the next phase.

Design, Revisions & Budget

Once the master plan is drafted, a scaled drawing allows you to start to see your new landscape design come to life. Our plans are drawn and rendered in color by hand, for a one-of-a-kind creation. The plan is based on thoughtful consideration of your outdoor needs, land and budget limitations, and your overall design aesthetics. A detailed budget outlining costs for material and labor is also presented for approval.

Construction

Once a final design is agreed upon, the landscape construction can begin. When heavy construction or demolition is needed, Essex Outdoor Design takes care to limit any damage to surrounding areas and keep the area as orderly as possible. As needed, your project manager will work with contract services such as outdoor lighting electricians, underground sprinkling companies, natural gas technicians and concrete services to keep the project moving in a timely and logical manner. Your input is welcome throughout the process to make sure the final results match your outdoor living vision.
